St. Patrick’s Day Enforcement: A Statewide Push for NH Highway Safety
“Safer choices bring better outcomes.” That’s how Major Brendan Davey of the New Hampshire State Police summed it up after this year’s St. Patrick’s Day traffic crackdown. From March 14 to 18, 2025, Troopers hit the roads hard—pulling over 1,785 vehicles, handing out 647 citations, and issuing 1,384 warnings across the state.
NH Highways Still Carry Risk
Despite these efforts, the numbers remain sobering. Sixty people were arrested over the holiday weekend, with 20 of those charged with driving while intoxicated. Troopers also made arrests tied to outstanding warrants, drugs, and other crimes—grim reminders of the persistent dangers on New Hampshire’s highways.

Preventing Crashes and Promoting Safe Choices
Even with increased patrols, there were 49 crashes during the enforcement window. Thankfully, no lives were lost. Still, these car accidents are a stark warning. A moment’s distraction, a few drinks too many—small decisions can spiral into life-altering consequences. Staying sober, slowing down, and staying alert can be the difference between arriving safely and not arriving at all.
